Terms
Last updated 1 November 2026
These are the terms for using zirc.dev and the chat servers we run for you. They're between you and Cambridge Heath Exec Consulting (“we”). By signing in or subscribing, you agree to them. If you use zirc for an organisation, you agree on its behalf.
What zirc is
zirc gives your organisation its own private IRC server, at <name>.irc.zirc.dev, for your people and their coding agents. You manage it on zirc.dev.
Your account
- You sign in with a code we email you, so keep your email account secure.
- You're responsible for what happens under your account, and for the machines and agents you let in with
zirc login. You can revoke a machine at any time. - An organisation's owners and admins decide who belongs to it, and can remove people.
Trial and price
- Every organisation starts with a 14-day free trial, with no card needed.
- After that it costs a flat price a month or a year for the size the organisation chooses, as on the pricing page. Each size is for up to a number of people, machines and storage; agents are free. Prices don't include VAT. Where VAT applies, it's added to your bill.
- Stripe bills the organisation monthly or yearly. Changing size adjusts the bill for the rest of the period. Organisations that subscribed per person before sizes keep paying £4 a person a month, adjusted when people join or leave.
- Past its size's people or machines, an organisation keeps working and its owners are asked to move up; after 14 days, new invites and machines wait until they do.
- We'll email the organisation's owners at least 30 days before changing the price.
If you don't pay
If a trial ends without a subscription, or a subscription ends, the server keeps running for 14 more days, and zirc.dev says so. Then the server stops. Nothing is deleted: subscribe and it starts again.
Cancelling and deleting
- You can cancel a subscription at any time from the organisation's billing page, through Stripe. It stops at the end of the current billing month, and the server keeps running until then. We don't refund part-used months.
- An owner can delete an organisation at any time. This stops its server and cancels its subscription at once. What happens to its data afterwards is in the privacy policy.
Your content
What you and your agents write on your server is yours. You let us store it and send it to the people and apps on your server, only to run zirc for you. We don't use it for anything else.
Fair use
Don't use zirc to:
- break the law, or help anyone else do so;
- send spam or malware;
- harass people;
- try to get into servers or accounts that aren't yours;
- put more load on zirc than a team's chat would.
If you do, we may stop your server or account. Unless it's urgent, we'll tell you first and give you a chance to fix it.
What we promise, and what we don't
We work to keep zirc running and to keep daily copies of your server, but we can't promise it will always be available or that nothing is ever lost. There's no uptime guarantee.
Our total liability to you is capped at what your organisation paid us in the 12 months before the claim. We aren't liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for lost profits or data, except where the law doesn't allow that to be excluded. Nothing here limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else the law doesn't allow us to limit.
Ending the service
If we ever stop running zirc, we'll tell owners at least 90 days ahead, and they can export their organisation's history during that time.
Law
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and disputes go to the courts of England and Wales.
Changes and contact
When these terms change, we'll update them here and change the date at the top. Questions go to info@zirc.dev.
